First Baby Kick

Oct 22nd, 2008
Dear Baby,
As of today, you will be approximately 18 weeks and 6 days.
You have been growing pretty well in my tummy, even though I have not seen you since August. During our last doctor's visit, we only get to listen to your heartbeat.
Beside my belly growing bigger, I felt your gentle kick for the first time on 10/20 midnight. You kicked twice! I have read articles about feeling baby's kick for the first time, but it's difficult to comprehend until you really feelt it....
The feeling was undescribable. I have a big smile on my face, as your dad was already fast asleep. I did not feel you after that until today 10/22, while I was sitting in front of my work pc typing away..... I felt you kicking again.......
It was an awesome experience, and I am sure there are more kicking to come.
Till we see you next

Mating SnaiLs....

Oct 18th, 2008

Ever seen Snails Mate?
We have an aquarium that can hold 75 gallons of water.

Now there are about total of 10 gold fishes. They are of 5 different types.
Since I don't have a very good camera, it's really difficult for me to take pictures of them.
But they have been growing really well....
3 of them have names : Goldilocks; MiniMe; FattyFattyBomBom
We are still thinking names for the other 7....

Besides the fishes, we also have 4 snails and 4 different types of plants ( Not plastic ones ) in the fish tank. 2 golden snails, and 2 blue snails.
The golden snails have been growing pretty fast, and they love being in the aqaurium.
They actually don't move as slow as we thought they do, sometimes you can see them speed across the tank. Dustin likes to say they are 'Hauling Asses'..... :)
Here's one of the pics where the snail chill on the plant:

Last weekend, we found one of the golden snail outside of the tank!!!! We thought he / she was trying to commit suicide!!! Wondering what could have happened if we did not find it outside of the tank....

Two days later, as we were about to head out for work, we found one of the golden snails laying eggs!!! I did not grab my camera in time to take a picture of it, and the snail dropped off from the eggs after that.... While the snail dropped into the water, some of the eggs dropped as well, and were being eaten by the always hungry gold fish....
Here's some pictures of the eggs of the snail I took from the first day:

Here's how the eggs look like after about a week. We are still wondering what will happen after this....

This morning while I was watching the fish swimming around, I saw the snails mating again... here's some cool pictures :

Yea... They are getting it on.... haha.. :)

DiNNeR!

Oct 11th, 2008

I was craving for some Mummy Koh's cooking.
So I decided to try out the 'Asam Prawn' she used to cook.
Mummy said it's pretty easy, just season the Prawn with Tamarind ( Asam Gao ), add a little bit of soy sauce or salt if I want.

I seasoned the prawns for about 5 hours, with just the Tamarind.
Thinking the dish might not come out the way it should, I also had two other dishes planned : Sambal prawn with long bean and okra, also bitter gourd soup.

As I fried the prawns and the sambal prawns, I had my husband helped me with the soup....
Tomatoes, Ginger, Meat, Garlic and Bitter Gourd :

The Asam Prawn did not turn out very good. Not very tasty as I told mum after dinner. She said maybe the Tamarind version I used is not salty enough.... I should give it a try another time..

Here's some pictures :)

Yummy!

Dustin loves the Sambal Prawn and Soup, but said the Asam Prawn is so sooooo....
Will need to give it a second try when I am in the mood :)

North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences

Oct 5th, 2008
After two consecutive weekends of watching football, I filed a compliant...
So the man did some research and decided that we should go to the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences that is in Raleigh.
Raleigh is about 40 miles away from where we lived.
So we head out after we had our pancake breakfast.

The downtown seems pretty quiet during the weekend, we drove around the town to try to find a place to eat. We had a quick bite, it was not very satifying.
We spent about 4 hours storlling in the museum. It's a pretty cool place.
There are a total of 4 levels, and a special exhibition about 'Dead Sea Scroll' was on at that time.
We did not watch that as it cost about USD 25 per person.
The rest of the exhibition kept us amused.....

In front of the museum

Bones and Skull of Dinasour
Green Snake chilling in the aquarium

HorseShoe Crab, it moves really fast!!!

Owen's Pancake!

Oct 5th, 2008
It's a sunny Sunday morning.....
Dustin rolled over and asked what would I like for breakfast.

I said..... Tosai, or Bak Kut Teh or Heh Mee, pick one. :)
He smiled and said, why don't I make Pancake.
Off he went to the store, getting all the ingredients he needs....

He also bought some really sweet strawberries and some bananas to go with the pancake!
Here's the lovely pancake made by my loving husband..... :)
It tasted pretty good...
